Legal/Judicial Experience: Experienced Prosecutor making first run for elected office

Other Professional Experience: Prosecutor and Co-founder, City of Auburn Community Court; Prosecuting Attorney, City of Tacoma. Program Manager, City of Tacoma Employment Standards Office.

Education: B.S., Political Science, Seattle University; JD, University of Illinois Chicago Law School. I am the first in my family to attend college.

Community Service: As a gay Latinx immigrant, I have observed the struggles of marginalized communities– and the opportunities that come from hard work and giving back. I served as Board President and member for Rainbow Center in Tacoma, and as a pro-bono attorney for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.

Statement: As a Prosecutor, I rely on my knowledge and respect for the rule of law to seek outcomes that are fair and just. As a Judge, I’ll bring this same perspective, rooted in diverse lived and professional experience, to ensure all perspectives are heard without bias. I’ll hold people accountable for their actions, while also helping restore lives and build stronger communities.

Experience alone is not enough for this position. We need someone who is able to innovate and diversify our courts to achieve better public safety outcomes. I am that candidate. My experience building and shaping Community Court and other restorative justice programs have reinforced my commitment to diversion and therapeutic programs to address many of the non-violent offenses that come before Municipal Court. These approaches are more successful at tackling the root causes of crime and reducing reoffending.

We need judges who reflect the diversity of our city, dedicated to the laws that guide us and the values that connect us. I have spent my career improving equity and justice, and I ask for your vote!
