Jonathan Rands

Legal/Judicial Experience: Respected trial Lawyer for 20 years, primarily in the Whatcom County District Court and the municipal courts of our county. Jonathan Rands has mastered these courts and has been rated “Well Qualified” by the Whatcom County Women Lawyers.

Other Professional Experience: Frequent Judge Pro Tem in the courts of Whatcom County

Education: J.D., Seattle University; B.A. in Criminal Justice, Simon Fraser University

Community Service: Reliable contributor to many community organizations including Whatcom Humane Society, Boys & Girls Club, Burned Children’s Recovery Foundation, St. Joseph Hospital and Hospice Foundations, and Max Higbee

Statement: Jonathan Rands is an experienced trial lawyer who spends nearly every day in Whatcom County District Court and the District Courts of surrounding counties. For 20 years, he has distinguished himself in the courtroom defending Constitutional rights and is respected for his relentless work ethic and integrity. Our courts should have judges who are the legal profession’s best, and Jonathan Rands will be that kind of judge.

Representing individuals, not corporations or government, Jonathan Rands has earned a reputation for his Commitment to the Rule of Law. As a small business owner, he understands the hard work it takes to build and maintain an economically viable business in today’s challenging environment.

He will bring fresh new ideas to our District Court like a Community Court and Resource Center to provide resources to community members continually dealing with addiction, untreated mental health issues, and housing and education challenges. By reducing recidivism, he hopes to relieve burdens on police and first responders.
