Education: University of Puget Sound School of Law, Juris Doctorate; University of Washington, Bachelor’s Degree, Business Administration.

Community Service: Communities in Schools-Tutor; Senior High School Internship Program-Mentor; Tacoma Business Academy-Mentor; American Inns of Court; YMCA Mock Trial; Lawyers Helping Hungry Children-supporter; Girl Scouts of America-supporter; Tacoma Community College-supporter; Helping Hand House-supporter; St. Francis House-supporter.

Statement: For the past eight years, District Court Judge Claire Sussman has earned a strong reputation for her integrity, fairness, and dedication to the law.

Judge Sussman works hard to ensure each party in her Courtroom is afforded a meaningful opportunity to present their case. Judge Sussman is a respected jurist who treats people with dignity and respect. Claire makes sound decisions based on the facts and the law. As a former Pro-Tem Judge, prosecutor and attorney in private practice, Judge Sussman brings a balanced and thoughtful approach to the District Court. Because of the diversity of her legal experience, Judge Sussman has both the knowledge of the law and the perspective we need on the Bench.

Judge Sussman is dedicated to public safety, accountability, and the protection of individual rights.
