Legal/Judicial Experience: Attorney for 30 years with Leavy, Schultz, Davis & Fearing, PS. Judge Fearing was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2013. In November 2013, 70% of voters elected him to retain his judgeship. George currently serves as Chief Judge of Division III, and on the Washington Judicial Conduct Commission.

Other Professional Experience: George taught continuing legal education seminars; served as pro-bono counsel to ARC of Tri-Cities, numerous religious organizations.

Education: Juris Doctor, University of Washington Law School; Bachelors/Business Administration, Magna cum laude, Walla Walla College.

Community Service: Walla Walla University Alumni Association President; Rotarian; Sabbath School teacher; Tri-City Academy Board.

Statement: The son of a minister and a nurse, Judge Fearing’s parents instilled in him an ethic of hard work and service to others. As an attorney, George earned a superior reputation for his extraordinary character, integrity, and knowledge of the law. He repeatedly and successfully defended law enforcement officers wrongfully sued for protecting the community.

As an appellate judge, Judge Fearing has developed a reputation for thoughtful and thorough opinions. He firmly believes that a good judge does not create law, but listens intently and patiently to each side in a case and carefully applies the established law to the case. George considers it his obligation to educate the citizenry about legal and appellate processes, regularly speaking to numerous services clubs, at schools and universities. He has also served voluntarily as a superior court judge pro tem at the request of local judges.

George enjoys music, travel, history books, and climbing Badger Mountain with his son.
