Washington Supreme Court

Supreme Court justices are elected to six-year terms by voters throughout the entire state. There are nine Supreme Court justices, and Washington residents will vote for four in 2014.

Supreme Court candidates only appear on the primary election if there are more than two candidates for a position. There will not be any Supreme Court elections on the primary ballot in 2014.

Position 1: Mary Yu is the incumbent. She is running for re-election without opposition.

Position 3: Mary Fairhurst is the incumbent. She is running for re-election without opposition.

Position 4: Charles W. Johnson is the incumbent. He is being challenged by Eddie Yoon. This election will appear on the November general election ballot.

Position 7: Debra L. Stephens is the incumbent. She is being challenged by John (Zamboni) Scannell. This election will appear on the November general election ballot.

Court of Appeals

Division Two, District Two

(Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, and Thurston Counties)

District Three elects two judges; Position 1 will be on the 2014 ballot.

Lisa Sutton is running for election to Position 1, an open position, this year. She will appear on the November ballot without opposition.

Superior Court

Superior Court judges are elected to four-year terms. All Superior Court positions throughout Washington will up for election in 2016.

Bill Houser was appointed by the Governor to an open position on the Kitsap County Superior Court. He is not being challenged for that position. If only one candidate runs for an office in a county with a population of more than 100,000, that candidate receives a Certificate of Election, and the position will not appear on either the primary or the general election ballot. Judge Houser has accordingly been elected to complete the remainder of his term, and he will be up for election again in 2016.

District Court

District Court judges are elected to four-year terms, and all District Court positions are up for election in 2010. In Kitsap County, there are no judicial elections on the primary ballot.

Three District Court positions are uncontested, and only the incumbents will appear on the November ballot. Because of Judge James Riehl's retirement, Position 1 is open. Two candidates are running for that position, and it will be decided in the November general election.

Position 1 (November): Claire Bradley | Tracy Flood
Position 2: Jeffrey Jahns
Position 3: Marilyn Paja
Position 4: Stephen Holman
