Washington Supreme Court

Supreme Court justices are elected to six-year terms by voters throughout the entire state. There are nine Supreme Court justices, and Washington residents will vote for four in 2014.


Position 1: Mary Yu is the incumbent. She is running for re-election without opposition.


Position 3: Mary Fairhurst is the incumbent. She is running for re-election without opposition.


Position 4: Charles W. Johnson is the incumbent. He is being challenged by Eddie Yoon.


Position 7: Debra L. Stephens is the incumbent. She is being challenged by John (Zamboni) Scannell.


 

Court of Appeals

Division Two, District Three

(Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, Pacific, Skamania, and Wahkiakum Counties)

District Three elects two judges; Position 1 will be on the 2014 ballot.

Judge Rich Melnick was appointed to Position 1 by the Governor. He is running for re-election without opposition to the four years remaining on his term.


 

Superior Court

Superior Court judges are elected to four-year terms; most were elected in 2012, and their terms extend through the end of 2016.

Bernard Veljacic was appointed in May 2014 to fill a vacancy in Department 5. He is being challenged by Robert Vukanovich. This position will appear on the November ballot. All the other incumbent Superior Court judges are unopposed.


 

District Court

District Court judges are elected to four-year terms, and all District Court positions are up for election in 2014.

There are no contested District Court elections in the county this year. The following incumbent candidates have filed for re-election:

Position 4: Sonya Langsdorf
Position 5: Kelli Osler
