Paul Sander

Kittitas County Superior Court

Position One

Paul Sander

Legal/Judicial Experience: Chief Deputy Prosecutor, Kittitas County; Judge Pro Tem, Yakima County District Court; Assistant District Attorney, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin; Judicial Intern with Federal District Court Judge Barbara Crabb.

Other Professional Experience: Instructor with Sheriff and Ellensburg Police reserve academies and ASPEN volunteer training; Member of Kittitas County Community Network, Methamphetamine Action Team and Campus Community Coalition; Kittitas County Bar Association Treasurer.

Education: BA, University Alaska Fairbanks, magna cum laude; JD, University Wisconsin Law School, honors.

Community Service: Mercer Creek Church Governing Board, Men’s Ministry coordinator and Children’s Ministry volunteer; Thorp Cemetery Commissioner; Ellensburg School and KVCH strategic planning committees participant; Thorp School PTSA, Rotary and Leadership Ellensburg.

Statement: For the past 14 years I have been proud to devote my career as a prosecutor to holding criminals accountable in the toughest cases such as armed robbery, child molestation and homicide. I have been called to public service to help my community, and now I’m asking for your help to become the next elected superior court judge.

I believe that to be a good judge, one must first be a good listener. I’ve spent my professional life listening to people explain how being a victim of crime or enduring economic, drug, or mental health challenges has affected them. I’ve found that participants in the legal system are most satisfied when they have been heard and they understand the process.

In addition to my work as a criminal prosecutor I also provide civil legal services to several county departments and have served as judge pro tem in Yakima County District Court. As superior court judge, I will make sure that each party is treated fairly and, above all, with respect.

I’m excited at the prospect of continuing to serve my community. Together we can bring my personal integrity, professional excellence and public leadership to the Kittitas County Superior Court.
