Statement: I am running because Kittitas County deserves a Superior Court Judge with the breadth of experience and broad base of knowledge necessary for such an important and influential position. A Superior Court Judge presides over a variety of cases - felony criminal matters, real property and land use issues, domestic relations, estate probates and trusts, mental illness, juvenile, and many types of civil cases. In addition, the Superior Court hears appeals from the two District Courts in the county and from many administrative boards and the County Commissioners. A Superior Court judge must have experience in many varied areas of the law in order to effectively and soundly hear and decide the wide ranging cases that will come before the court.

I have received support from all areas of Kittitas County, and have spoken with many people over the years about my desire to sit as Superior Court Judge. The concerns raised have always centered on the need for an experienced, knowledgeable person in the position. I took those concerns to heart, and made a conscious decision not to run until I believed I had the requisite experience to do the job, and do it well. That time is now.
