This race will be decided in the Primary Election.

James A. Schoenberger, Jr.

Legal/Judicial Experience: Attorney for 30+ years. Family law, real estate, personal injury and torts. In 1990’s a Federal prosecutor of fraud claims in the Savings & Loan crisis. I’ve done criminal defense since 2003 and have briefed and argued appeals in Federal and state courts of appeal.

Other Professional Experience: Worked in the computer industry since 1969. Attended law school while working at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Education: Chicago-Kent College of Law J.D. 1981; University of Illinois B.A., 1971.

Community Service: My service to the community is the passionate defense of indigent individuals charged with crimes. Sometimes good people do bad things.

Statement: I intend to restore fairness and impartiality to the bench in Department 13. I have the experience to do so. The role of a judge is to ensure the integrity of the judicial system. This can only be accomplished by an impartial and neutral judge. I will bring more than 30 years of diverse experience, integrity and fairness to the bench.

I have been an attorney since 1981, licensed in Illinois and Washington. I have represented men and women in family law, plaintiffs and defendants in civil suits and defendants in criminal proceedings. I have briefed and argued matters in state and Federal courts of appeal.

In the 1980s I represented individuals and corporations in matters involving tort, contract, family law, and real estate in state and Federal courts. In the 1990’s, I worked for a Federal agency investigating and prosecuting multi-million dollar frauds against financial institution directors and officers, their attorneys, accountants, and brokers, recovering more than $50 million for taxpayers from those whose frauds contributed to the failure of a financial institution.

Since 2003 I have represented hundreds of defendants charged with crimes and tried more than 50 criminal cases ranging from DUI to murder.
