Jack Hill

Pierce County Superior Court

Department 5

This race will be decided in the Primary Election.

Jack Hill

Legal/Judicial Experience: 1975-2006 Trial attorney and Director of Pierce County’s second largest law office providing legal representation in majority of criminal cases filed in Pierce County Superior, District, and Juvenile Delinquency/Family Courts; Tacoma, Fircrest, and Ruston Municipal Courts; mental health/civil commitment proceedings. Superior Court arbitrator. Since 2006 have served as judicial pro tem in Superior, Juvenile and District Courts, and Tacoma, Sumner, Puyallup, and Lakewood Municipal Courts.

Other Professional Experience: No information submitted

Education: Mount Tahoma HS; WSU - Police Science and Administration; Willamette University School of Law, JD, 1974

Community Service: Pierce County Law & Justice Commission; Domestic Violence Commission; Family and Felony Drug Court Committees, and many more.

Statement: We can do better. The Superior Court is essential to American concepts of Rule of Law. Public trust in judicial knowledge, appearance of fairness, respect for parties/attorneys, and actual fairness and competence, is necessary to successfully implement the rule of law.

The Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association recently conducted a judicial performance survey assessing these categories. Should voters return a judge ranked by legal professionals appearing before them as being in the bottom one-fourth or one-third of judges in each and all of these categories based upon receiving “poor” or “unacceptable” survey responses? Would you hire or refer your neighbor to a surgeon, dentist, or physician so rated/ranked by their peers?

I am experienced in Superior Court proceedings having spent my career as litigant, administrator, and judicial pro tem. I have received recognition by the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association (Liberty Bell Award), the Washington State Bar Association (Local Hero Award), the Pierce County Council, and Pierce County Executives for my work and efforts for the citizens of Pierce County.

I ask for your vote to improve our Superior Court. I believe my experience, training, and demonstrated success in the Superior Court qualifies me for your consideration.
