Legal/Judicial Experience: Appointed by Governor Locke in July
2000 as a Judge for the Superior Court of Clark County, Department 8.
Other Professional Experience: Twelve years with the Department
of Social and Health Services as a child welfare and child protective
service worker. In private practice served as a Guardian Ad Litem and
testified as an expert witness on children's behalf.
Education: BA University of Washington, JD Northwestern School of
Law at Lewis and Clark. Admitted to the Washington State Bar in January
1986.
Community Service: Active on the United States and Washington
Soccer Associations boards.
Statement: Judge Woolard has been a participant and trainer in
seminars such as drug courts, ethics, issues in family law, domestic
violence and protection of vulnerable adults for the public and the
judiciary.
As an attorney she served as a deputy prosecuting attorney, and in her
private practice handled criminal defense cases, family law matters and
appeals. She received an Appreciation Award from the Clark County
Volunteer Lawyer's Program and from the Vancouver Parks & Recreation
Commission.
As a Superior Court Judge since July 2000, she has presided over
countless cases involving family law, divorces, adoptions, terminations,
and protection of persons in need, guardianships, civil litigation, drug
courts and numerous felonies. Judge Woolard received a plaque from
Superior Court for her years of service presiding over drug court.
Judge Diane Woolard has endeavored to serve on the bench in an ethical
and professional manner. She has balanced the demands of justice and the
rights of all individuals while trying to ensure a safe community. Judge
Woolard will be honored to continue to serve as your Superior Court
Judge and the public.
