Tom Weaver

Washington Court of Appeals

Division II, District Two, Position 2

Tom WeaverLegal/Judicial Experience: An attorney since 1992 in Washington, Tom Weaver opened his own law firm in 2005 handling appeals, criminal and personal injury cases.

Other Professional Experience: Prior to becoming a lawyer, Tom Weaver worked as a legal intern for public defender offices in Washington, D.C., and Seattle, Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office, and a Tacoma attorney

Education: Graduate of Central Kitsap High School in 1986. Received BA from Columbia University in 1990. Graduated cum laude from University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1992.

Community Service: Volunteer and Board of Directors: Kitsap Legal Services. Board of Directors: Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, including Public Defense Subcommittee.

Statement: The job of the appellate judge is to judge the decisions of other judges. Tom Weaver is the experienced, balanced, and trustworthy person that can be charged with this responsibility. After preparing over 300 appeals and hundreds of jury trials, Tom Weaver has the necessary experience to join the Court of Appeals ready to go to work.

Having spent his entire 19 year legal career balancing the needs of everyday people, regardless of race, gender, or ability to pay, Tom Weaver has a proven track record as a “tireless worker with a passion for justice,” according to Kitsap Superior Court Judge Kevin Hull.

The best indication of who trial judges trust to judge their decisions is the person they choose to endorse. From the six counties of District 2, at least nine Superior Court Judges and seven District, Municipal, and Tribal Judges have endorsed Tom Weaver. He has also been endorsed by Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Dwyer. Called “ethical and highly intelligent” by Kitsap Superior Court Judge Jeanette Dalton, these judges know him, have had an opportunity to observe his character and courtroom demeanor, and have concluded that Tom Weaver is the clear choice for the Court of Appeals.
