Michael Lynch

Legal/Judicial Experience: Practiced law in Washington State for 31 years, both at the trial and appellate level, handling both civil and criminal cases and issues. Appointed as an arbitrator by the Thurston County Superior Court. Admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Other Professional Experience: Former member of the Client Protection Fund for the Washington State Bar Association. Senior Member, Attorney General’s Office Ethics Committee.

Education: Santa Clara University, B.A. (1977) and Seattle University School of Law, Juris Doctorate (1980).

Community Service: Officer and board member for various non-profit organizations including the NOVA School and the Cooper Point Association. Social Minister at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church.

Statement: Mike Lynch has practiced law for 31 years. He has acquired expertise in criminal law, working in the criminal justice system developing criminal rules and successfully defending cases that challenged convictions for a variety of crimes. Mike also has extensive experience with civil law, defending a broad range of civil damages lawsuits. Currently, Mike’s the lead attorney for the appellate section of the Torts Division of the Attorney General’s Office. Mike has handled hundreds of cases, in the Washington State Court of Appeals, the Washington State Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court.

In addition to a strong background in both criminal and civil law, Mike’s knowledge of state government is comprehensive. This knowledge is important because the judge you choose for this position must determine whether state government is operating in accordance with Washington’s laws and constitution. Mike knows how government should work and has seen the consequences when it doesn’t.
