Washington Court of AppealsDivision II, District ThreeThis contest will be decided in the Primary.Legal/Judicial Experience: For over 30 years Joe Daggy has been a successful attorney arguing hundreds of cases before trial and appellate courts. Education: Graduate of Kelso High School, the University of Washington, received J.D. from Willamette University. Community Service: Past President of the Cowlitz/Wahkiakum Bar Association and Kelso Rotary, and past District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America. He is a former board member of the Lower Columbia Contractors Association and the Humane Society. Joe and his wife Sharon live in Kelso, they have a grown son, Adam. Joe is a nationally recognized author and a member of the Lions, Elks and Masons. Statement: More experience, broader experience, appeals experience. Joe Daggy is the better qualified candidate to serve on our state's Court of Appeals. He has years more legal experience than his opponent which includes work on more diverse areas of the law - in short he is better able to serve on the Court of Appeals because he understands more of the issues that will come before the court. Daggy has argued in the Superior Courts of Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, Wahkiakum, Pacific and Skamania Counties. He also appeared before the Washington State Court of Appeals and federal courts. A belief in judicial restraint. Too often judges set aside the law in favor of their personal beliefs. Joe Daggy is committed to judicial restraint and will not legislate from the bench. Joe has worked to defend our basic civil liberties, protecting the rights of workers, landowners and small business people through his 30 year legal career. We can trust that he will continue this commitment to our rights when we elect him to the Court of Appeals. Joe is endorsed by leaders from both political parties, including by Republican former Attorney General and U.S. Senator Slade Gorton and Democrat Longview Mayor Kurt Anagnostou. |
