An information resource for Washington voters

VotingforJudges is a nonpartisan, impartial source of information about judicial elections in the state of Washington. The site was established in 2006 to provide information to voters in connection with the judicial candidates running for election that year.

Our archives retain information from the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 elections.

2010

The General Election day is November 2. Ballots were mailed to voters in mid-October.

TIP: To determine which elections will be on your ballot, click on Show My Elections. This will let you select your county, then take you directly to the information that is most relevant for you.

The November 2 general election will select numerous district court and municipal judges around the state, as well as one superior court judge.

Supreme Court:

• Justice Richard Sanders is being challenged by Charlie Wiggins. These two candidates received the most votes in a three-person primary race, so they will be on the ballot for a General Election run-off.

Lower Courts:

• Check the Show My Elections page for possible District Court and other contested elections in your county.

Honors

The American Bar Association honored VotingforJudges with its 2007 Silver Gavel Award for Media and the Arts, in the "New Media" category, "recognizing outstanding efforts to foster public understanding of the law."

The Atlanta-based Foundation for Improvement of Justice presented one of its Paul H. Chapman Justice Awards for 2007 to VotingforJudges.

Paul Fjelstad, the Kitsap attorney who created and provides ongoing updates to VotingforJudges, was honored with the 2007 King County Bar Association President's Award for his work.

Numerous newspaper editorials have praised and recommended this site.
