Superior CourtSuperior Court judges are elected to four-year terms; most were elected in 2008, and their terms extend through the end of 2012. Jean Rietschel was appointed earlier this year to fill a vacancy in Department 36. Because nobody filed against her, she received a Certificate of Election after filing week. The position will not appear on the ballot. The position will be up again in 2012. Beth Andrus was appointed on July 8 to fill a vacancy in Department 35. She has to stand for election in November. A special filing period was held August 18-20, but Judge Andrus was the only candidate who filed. Therefore, she receives a Certificate of Election and she will not appear on the ballot. The position will be up again in 2012. |
