Judge Ellington received her law degree from UW in 1974, and practiced in Seattle until her election to King County Superior Court in 1984. She was the first woman to be elected Presiding Judge. She was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 1995. She is regarded as a fair, practical, and hardworking judge who is respectful to the parties before her, and has a reputation for integrity, intelligence, legal ability, compassion, and courage. Judge Ellington believes our courts provide the centerpiece of our democracy and must be independent, accessible and responsive. She is passionate about her work and her efforts to ensure access to the courts and to reduce delay. Judge Ellington receives excellent ratings (“exceptionally well qualified”) and has been honored three times as Outstanding Judge. She has also been recognized for her judicial leadership and was named Distinguished Alumna by UW law women’s caucus. She regards the opportunity to serve on the court as a great privilege and responsibility, and is honored to serve this community. Please vote to re-elect her. Thank you.
