Current Occupation/Employer: Attorney Education: B.A. in Business Administration, W.S.U. ’78; J.D., Gonzaga University ’81 Legal/Judicial Experience: John has practiced law for 27 years in many diverse fields including family law; criminal law; probates/trusts; guardianships; dependencies; corporations; real estate; FSA appeals; water rights; leases; sales; tax matters; municipal law for towns, fire districts, hospital district, weed board and water conservancy board. He has represented Adams County as a special deputy prosecuting attorney regarding paternities, support enforcement and modifications and has served as a court-ordered arbitrator on civil cases. Family: Married to Cathy (30 years), two adult children, Tanya and Kyle Candidate Statement: John is a native to the area as he was raised on a wheat farm near Lind and has lived and practiced law in Lincoln County for 26 years. His roots are here. He has been a sole practitioner for the last 20 years serving clients in every city and town in the county. This experience has given him a broad base of legal knowledge that is essential for a Superior Court Judge. John understands people want a justice system that is fair, predictable and efficient and will not tolerate unnecessary or abusive use of the courts. He certainly has the desire to serve and believes he has the temperament and the work ethic needed to be an effective judge.
