Significant Career Experience: USAF Officer [1969-1975], Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor, 12 years. Adjunct Professor, Constitutional and Criminal Law, Saint Martin’s College, 12 years. Presiding Judge, Thurston County Superior Court Board of Judges, two 2-year terms. Education: BS in Education, Oklahoma Christian College, 1968. JD, University of Puget Sound, 1977. Family: Married 39 years to Donna Tabor, four adult daughters: Amy, Alison, Anna & Aleah and one grandson, Raef. Candidate Statement: Judge Gary R. Tabor has served on the Bench since November, 1996. During the last 12 years, he has handled a wide variety of civil, criminal and domestic matters. He is known for his integrity and fairness. He consistently prepares for cases by reading and researching before he hears oral arguments. He treats litigants, witnesses, and attorneys with dignity and respect, yet he expects persons who appear before him to be prepared and on time. Judge Tabor has a strong work ethic and regularly arrives early and stays late. Judge Tabor has twice been selected by the other Judges to serve as the Administrative Judge for two-year terms. He played a significant role in securing an additional Judge position beginning in 2007. Judge Tabor has been the back-up Drug Court Judge for the last 4 years and regularly handles Drug Court sessions. He has been selected by his fellow Judges to serve as the Drug Court Presiding Judge beginning in 2009.
