Legal/Judicial Experience: Seventeen years as a local trial and appellate attorney handling complex cases at all levels of state and federal courts. Admitted to Washington State Bar Association; U.S. District Court for Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and United States Supreme Court. Family: Married to Mike Sellars. Mother of two children and three step-children. Significant Career Experience: Served as lead Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Corrections; currently serve as Deputy Solicitor General; argued multiple cases before the Washington Supreme Court. Candidate Statement: We all deserve fair, well-reasoned decisions from our judges. In my 17 years as a local attorney, I have developed a strong reputation for being thorough, hard working, and dedicated to public service. I am a common-sense problem solver whose solid work ethic ensures that, as a judge, each case will be justly considered. My commitment to justice will give the citizens of Thurston County a court where they will be heard, respected, and valued. I am experienced in a broad variety of legal disputes, including criminal, administrative, constitutional, personal injury, and family law. My trial and appellate experience is diverse. I have successfully handled cases in all levels of state and federal courts, including numerous appearances before the Washington Supreme Court. I am dedicated to our community, having served on the boards of the Thurston County Volunteer Legal Clinic, the local bar association, and Washington Women Lawyers. I am also active in my church and my children’s school. Most importantly, I am respectful of the law, individual rights and community safety. I am proud to be supported by neighbors, community leaders, judges, the Governor and the Attorney General. I would be honored to have your vote. |
