Sergio Armijo

Current Occupation/Employer: Superior Court Judge, Department 9.

Education: University of Washington, B.A. (1973); University of Washington, J.D. (1976)

Legal/Judicial Experience: 25 years of service in Pierce County; 5 years City of Tacoma Prosecutor; 6 years Tacoma Municipal Court Judge and Court Commissioner; 14 years Superior Court Judge (re-elected to 4 terms).

Significant Career Experience: As a child, I worked as a migrant farm worker, and by age 22, I had completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. I served as a Green Beret and was awarded a Combat Badge and Bronze Star for Valor.

Candidate Statement: I am very committed to our community and working with different programs such as: Werlin Reading Program Roosevelt Elementary; YMCA and Seattle University Mock Trial competitions; Minority Youth and Law Forum; scholarship programs; and I volunteer as the only bilingual Santa for the children of East Tacoma for many years. I serve on the Catholic Community Services Advisory Board, am a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and various other boards as well.

As a husband and father of four, my highest priority is my family. As a member of our community, I support our youth because I believe it is vital to encourage them all to reach for success. As a professional, I have dedicated myself to community service where I strive to fairly administer the laws of our state. It will be my honor to continue to serve Pierce County.
