Monty Cobb

Mason County Superior Court

Position Two

This race will be decided in the Primary Election.

Monty Cobb

Current Occupation/Employer: Chief Civil Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Mason County providing advice and representation for the County, its officials, and staff.

Education: Graduated from Gonzaga Law School and admitted to the WA and US Supreme Court bars. Bachelors and Masters degrees in History from WWU. Common sense from being a farm kid.

Legal/Judicial Experience: Eleven years experience as a prosecutor. Former Assistant Attorney General and private defense attorney.

Family: My wife, Wendy, and I belong to the Harstine Island Community Choir and attend Shelton Presbyterian Church.

Candidate Statement: Mason County is ready for a judge who is decisive and timely, ready for a judge who has the vision, common sense and broad experience to serve justice in the courtroom and to run a fair and efficient court system. I am Monty Cobb and I’m asking for your vote to be your next Superior Court Judge. During my career as a prosecutor, defense attorney and Assistant Attorney General, I have appeared in front of dozens of judges in over half the counties in the State. The best judges have one thing in common: in a system designed to treat everyone the same, the best judges understand that each person and situation is unique. Every judicial candidate will tell you that they will uphold the law (as they are required to) but the art of being a judge is in how you apply the law to the people and circumstances right in front of you at that moment. Trial scheduling in Mason County needs revision. Jurors, witnesses and police check in repeatedly, never knowing when a case will really begin. That’s frustrating, expensive, and needs to change.
