Education: Bachelor of Science, University of Oregon; Law Degree, Gonzaga University; Honor Graduate, U.S. Naval Justice School; Graduate, U.S. Army Military Judge Course.

Legal/Judicial Experience: deputy prosecuting attorney, private civil practice, public defender, Shelton Municipal Court Judge, court commissioner, military judge.

Family: Married to Verlane Adamson for 38 years; two adult children.

Significant Career Experience: seminar leader, National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges; member, Family and Juvenile Law Committee, Washington State Superior Court Judge’s Association; instructor, State of Washington Gender and Justice Commission; certified as Special and General Court Martial Judge, U.S. Naval Reserve.

Candidate Statement: Rich Adamson has deep judicial experience, strong community roots and a history of dedicated service to Mason County and our nation. He trains judges across the state and around the country in the skills needed for handling cases of domestic violence. Rich helped found one of Mason County’s most successful charitable fundraising events through Oysterfest. He rose through the ranks of the United States Coast Guard and United States Naval Reserve to become a military judge at the rank of Captain. Rich has decades of experience in the courtroom as a deputy prosecutor, defense attorney and private practitioner. This breadth of experience enhances his ability to act as a neutral party in the Mason County Superior Court. He is known as a fair minded, even tempered judicial officer who listens intently to those who appear before him. He is best qualified to provide a seamless transition in judicial administrations. He looks forward to expanding the highly effective drug court and will work with local attorneys and county administration in refining and improving cost-effective delivery of judicial services.
