CANDIDATE STATEMENT: Trial experience counts. For 30 years I have represented clients, including Kitsap County, in State and Federal Courts. I have tried hundreds of cases before judges and juries and argued appeals in the Washington Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals, and the Alaska and Washington State Supreme Courts. I am the only candidate who has argued before the United States Supreme Court. The depth of my legal experience has earned endorsements from Kitsap County Prosecutor Russ Hauge, retired Superior Court Judges Karen Conoley, James Maddock, Bill Kamps and Terry McCluskey, and scores of Kitsap County attorneys. I have also been involved in my community. I served on school district committees, chaired Friends of SK Parks, and was a scout leader. My participation in the South Kitsap community has earned me the endorsement of citizens from all walks of life. A judge must have a depth of experience and be able to make tough decisions. As a Superior Court Judge, I will conduct trials and apply the law in a way that is fair to all parties. I will be respectful of people’s different points of view, while always being mindful of the public’s safety. |
