Current Occupation/Employer: As a Washington State Assistant Attorney General, Tim Ford has authored formal legal opinions, defended initiatives and referendums, and trained hundreds of citizens to hold government accountable. Tim’s diverse legal career includes successfully defending parents in child custody battles, fighting costly government regulations, and assisting with appellate cases before the state and federal supreme courts. Family: Tim is devoted to his wife, Sonya and their 3 year-old daughter Megan. Significant Career Experience: As a U.S. Navy Lieutenant, Tim flew helicopters in support missions without loss of any lives, and was honorably discharged in 1994. Candidate Statement: Tim Ford will protect the rights of the people of Washington. He has the personal experience and integrity we expect from judges. Tim’s appellate experience and knowledge of the Washington Constitution will protect our civil liberties, while holding individuals and government accountable. Tim has a well deserved reputation as a hard working leader, and champion of open government as Assistant Attorney General. Throughout his legal career he has contributed free legal work to the disadvantaged. Tim will use his leadership, experience, and keen mind to improve the court and protect the rights of the people. Judicial Philosophy: Our constitution requires judges to protect individual rights, enforce laws, and hold individuals and government accountable regardless of who stands before them. The judiciary’s proper role is as a check and balance on the other branches of government. Tim will not legislate from the bench. Broad-Based Support: Tim Ford is a featured speaker at non-partisan statewide forums for open government. Tim’s experience has gained him support across a broad spectrum including independent, democratic, and republican leaders; judges, prosecutors, and many others. Tim is supported by the Farm Bureau and has worked closely with citizens, conservationists, and businesses on matters of important public policy. |
