Significant Career Experience: Former board member of Childhaven • Volunteer judge for King County Kids Court • Coordinator for International District Pro Bono Legal Clinic. Education: Graduate of University of Washington Law School (1984); Undergraduate degree in Psychology from Rutgers University (1981). Family: Judge Spearman resides in Seattle with her husband, Michael, and their two children. Candidate statement: Mariane Spearman has been an outstanding judge for over 13 years. She served as the presiding judge of Kirkland Municipal Court for 5 years and for the last 8 years on the King County District Court. She is actively involved in the administration of the court as the Presiding Judge of the West Division, a member of the Executive Committee and chair of the Personnel committee. Judge Spearman has been rated "Exceptionally Well Qualified" for election to this position by: the King County Bar Association • the Joint Asian Evaluation Committee • the Loren Miller Bar Association (African American lawyers) • Q Law the GLBT Bar Association • the Latina/o Bar Association. Judge Spearman’s supporters include King County Executive Ron Sims, King County Council member Larry Gossett, Seattle City Council member Bruce Harrell, Jon Bridge and over 50 judges from the Supreme, Appellate, Superior, District and Municipal Courts. She is also endorsed by the Women’s Political Caucus, the King County Police Officers Guild, the 33rd District Democrats, and AFSCME Local 21.
