She was Chair of the King County Washington Conservation Voters, and has experience in handling the growing number of land use and environmental law cases affecting our quality of life. Family: Jean and Rick Bouffard have a son, 18, and a daughter, 14. CANDIDATE STATEMENT: In recent years there has been an onslaught of county prosecutors and downtown Seattle lawyers joining the King County Superior Court. Nearly 75% of all the cases are civil, not criminal. Yet many of the newest judges come from the prosecutor’s office. And, in every open Superior Court race, the prosecutor’s office has a candidate. What the Court needs is a judge who understands everyday legal problems, with experience helping individuals and small businesses with contract, employment, construction, business and real estate issues — an attorney who practices common sense and gets the job done without a government agency or large law firm staff behind her. I have spent over 20 years working on civil cases and for people without a voice: • For individuals and small businesses • For good land use policies • For members of our communities who cannot afford legal counsel. Regularly appearing in the Superior Court has taught me that I have the work ethic, the legal reasoning skills and the dedication to fairness needed to perform the duties of judge. With your vote, I will combine my commitment to community service with my professional skills to serve you honorably and diligently as Judge. |
