CANDIDATE STATEMENT: For the past thirty years I have dedicated myself to the law. Stanford Law School was just the beginning. My career has included major commercial litigation in Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle, legal aid in London, England, Chief Prosecutor for the Attorney General in Saipan, prosecuting violent crime and government corruption, representation of clients in major criminal cases, training attorneys state-wide, assisting with local criminal justice councils, helping with reforms in our local court system, and creating the first public defender office in Island County. I am the first non-Seattle President of Washington Defender Association, where I have continued volunteering my time to train young attorneys about trial practice and have championed case load reform. The depth and breadth of my experience and public service is unique in our local community. To be a judge it is necessary to see all sides of an issue, maintaining neutrality and fairness. Justice for All is not just a phrase for me. It is a way of life. If elected I pledge to bring the same passion and commitment to the judiciary that I have demonstrated in my life’s work.
