Candidate Statement: In 2002, I began serving as a Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge. I remain committed to maintaining the integrity of the judiciary, to improving security and access to the courts and implementing best practices for case management and court administration. I have demonstrated a commitment to our community’s families and children by advocating for longer judicial rotations in juvenile court, increased legal representation for parents and children, increased juvenile courthouse security, and greater access to treatment and other services. I would like to continue to use my high energy, organizational skills, and judicial discretion in service to the citizens of Cowlitz County.

I have attended National and State Judicial College, numerous National and State Drug Court Trainings, and specific juvenile and family law training. I began my legal career in 1985 after graduating from Willamette Law School. In 1988 I served as the Longview Assistant City Attorney; in 1990 I joined Cowlitz County’s Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, where I remained until 2000.

I have been married for over 20 years, and we have four active teen-aged children. I like to snowmobile, travel, read and occasionally skydive.

Because only one candidate filed for this Superior Court position, the candidate will appear on both the August 19 primary ballot and the November 4 general election ballot unopposed.
