John R. Henry

Garfield County District Court

John R. HenryEDUCATION: Pomeroy High Sschool, 1969; BA Criminal Justice - Eastern Washington University, 1978; Juris Doctorate Gonzaga Law School, 1982
OCCUPATION: Garfield County Prosecuting Attorney
EMPLOYER: Garfield County
LEGAL/JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE: As a Spokane police officer, I obtained both my undergraduate degree and my law degree; and had a private practice as an attorney in Spokane until 1988. Since 1989, I have been the elected prosecuting attorney/coroner for Garfield County, served as a special deputy prosecuting attorney in Walla Walla, Columbia, Whitman, and Asotin Counties, and as a District Court Judge Pro Tem in Columbia and Asotin Counties. I have appeared in countless court proceedings in both Superior and District Courts; and I have appeared before Division III of the Court of Appeals.

Candidate Statement: For the first time Garfield County voters will have the opportunity to make a significant change in the judicial structure of the District Court by electing an attorney as their Judge - the same as every other county in the State. With over thirty-plus years in the court system, as a police officer and as an attorney, I am the only attorney candidate; and I possess the educational background, training, expertise, and daily legal experience to make that change happen. Bring Garfield County up to the standards required in every other county. You deserve it; and I will provide it.
