Statement
Experienced as both prosecutor and public defender, my passion for
justice and proven commitment to public service are qualities to bring
to Kitsap’s Superior Court. As former Kitsap County Prosecutor I managed
a legal organization of 80 attorneys and support staff.
My priorities resulted in helping reduce offender recidivism and
improved victims' rights. While I aggressively prosecuted repeat and
predatory offenders, I also worked toward keeping juveniles and
first-time offenders out of the criminal justice system through
diversion programs; collaborated with community leaders and others to
create a much-needed and long overdue behavioral health court; and
reduced barriers so previously convicted persons had the opportunity to
become successful, productive members of our community.
As Superior Court Judge I’ll encourage innovative programs that lead to
change for offenders, broaden access to justice and strengthen the
safety of our community. I’ll treat all persons with professionalism and
respect, ensuring their right to be heard. I’ll be decisive, fair, and
impartial as I uphold the law, free of political influence or personal
views. I’m endorsed by a wide range of community leaders like Prosecutor
Chad Enright, former Judge Robin Hunt and the National Women’s Political
Caucus of Washington, among others.
